Ways to Volunteer

1) Local & Remote Volunteering (Most Common)

You don’t have to travel to make a difference. Many volunteers support HDN remotely or within their own communities by helping with:

  • Administrative support (data entry, scheduling, follow-ups)

  • Donor stewardship (thank-you calls, acknowledgment support)

  • Social media and storytelling support

  • Graphic design, photography, and video editing

  • Newsletter and website content support

  • Event planning and logistics

  • Research and grant support

If you have 2–5 hours a week, you can be a powerful force behind the scenes.

2) Skills-Based Volunteering (Professional Support)

If you have professional expertise, your skills can help strengthen programs and operations. Helpful backgrounds include:

  • Grant writing and fundraising

  • Marketing, communications, and PR

  • Web design / development

  • Finance, bookkeeping, and nonprofit operations

  • Program monitoring & evaluation

  • Agriculture, sustainability, irrigation, or renewable energy

  • Translation (English / Haitian Creole / French)

If you’re not sure where you fit, we’ll help match your strengths to current needs.

3) Community Ambassador / Advocate

Help grow awareness and support for Haiti by serving as an HDN Ambassador:

  • Share HDN updates and campaigns with your networks

  • Invite friends to give or fundraise

  • Organize a small information session at your church, school, or workplace

  • Host an online fundraiser for a specific program or project

This is a great option if you want flexible volunteering with high impact.

4) Event Volunteering

HDN occasionally hosts or participates in events, campaigns, and community gatherings. Event volunteers may help with:

  • Set-up and breakdown

  • Registration and guest support

  • Photography and social content capture

  • Staffing tables or information booths

  • Donation support and logistics

If you enjoy community energy and teamwork, this is a great way to serve.

Volunteering in Haiti (Important Note)

HDN Foundation prioritizes community-led solutions and long-term sustainability. For that reason, in-country opportunities—if available—are limited and based on:

  • Current on-the-ground needs

  • Safety and travel considerations

  • Demonstrated skills that directly strengthen a project

  • Alignment with local leadership and partner capacity

If you are interested in volunteering in Haiti, we encourage you to apply and note your skills and availability. HDN will reach out if an appropriate opportunity is available.

We welcome volunteers who are:
